Petzl
Petzl headlamps are one of professional equipment products that this French company offers. Petzl is mostly known for its climbing and alpinist equipment, but it also manufactures industrial personal gear and professional equipment for rescue teams and workers at height. Last but not least is tactical equipment offered by Petzl that assists dynamic entry operations of SWAT and law enforcement officers all over the world.
Petzl products
Here, you can find Petzl headlamps in different designs and varying features. Specifically, BattleSteel offers two categories of products:
- Petzl headlamps
- Petzal tactical lights
Note that “tactical” does not mean camo color. In fact, tactical headlamps are a whole different kind of product. But let’s take a close look.
Petzl headlamps
What’s so special about Petzl headlamps? Actually, a lot. For the starter, there is strong and reliable LED lighting that offers the uninterrupted and steady (which means without flickering) light source that is vital when it comes to working at height or following rough terrain. The RGB light can work in various modes allowing for white, red, blue or green wide beam light.
Then, there is headband. Wide and one-handedly adjustable, it fits anyone. And not just fit, but does it comfortably.
The headlight itself is durable as a rock, and is fall-proof, impact-proof, waterproof, and dustproof. Plus you can easily orient the lamp (it fixates automatically). Most Petzl headlamps can work in three power modes, and are ready for any sports or professional applications.
Petzl tactical headlamps
Now for Petzl tactical headlamps. When we say “tactical”, we actually mean tactical interventions into any hostile areas currently controlled by criminals or other outlaws. SWAT and military have very tough requirements to every single piece of equipment, and Petzl tactical headlamps do offer what they need.
First of all, there are plenty of lumens. Yes, tactical headlights shoot a powerful wide-angle beam of light up to 2800 lumens. High brightness helps law enforcement officers to clearly see targets and surroundings, as well as disorients and demoralizes enemies.
Tactical headlamps are fall-, impact-, and crush resistant, so they can bear very high loads without fail. The famous Tactikka series of headlamps inspired Petzl engineers to improve new models of headlights for even more wearing comfort and usage efficiency.
Despite being ultra-powerful, Petzl tactical lighting offers up to 72 hours of uninterruptable operation thanks to automatic adjustment of brightness and several power modes too. When you are close to a wall, the brightness automatically goes down to save the battery. The headlamps are easily rechargeable.
Usability of the headlamp is also outstanding. For one, you can operate the tactical lamp even in gloves (which is often the case during tactical missions), thanks to responsive controls. Then, the band nicely and ergonomically attaches to any type of the helmet, and offer a perfect balance reducing the load on your neck.
About Petzl
The company started in 1968 when Fernand Petzl created a number of vertical safety devices for climbers. Later, he designed his own type of headlamps. In 1975, Petzl Manufacturing was born.
