Solar Reflex Sights
Solar Reflex Sights
Reflex sights are typically powered by batteries which is perfectly okay for occasional shooting. But if your shooting sessions are long and frequent, you’d want to enhance battery life of your optical aiming device as much as possible.
With a solar reflex sight, cells live much longer, because they are complemented with solar batteries. Alternatively, you can prefer a solar powered reflex sight that does not need any cells except solar panels, which means it is 100% sun-powered.
Reflex sight, solar charged
This type of a solar reflex sight has two power sources that complement each other:
- Usual cells (typically, CR2032)
- Solar batteries
A reflex sight is powered by both, with the solar power source being the primary one. If the power produced by the solar battery is not enough to display the dot, the solar charged reflex sight automatically switches to cells. Such design enhances the battery life of the reflex sight to enormous values. Remember your frustration when reflex sight batteries depleted a moment before you needed your best aim? Now this won’t happen anymore.
This type of solar reflex sights has a huge advantage: thanks to a combination of normal cells and solar panels you can continue using your sight even when it’s getting dark.
Reflex sight with no batteries
This type of a sun-powered reflex sight has no batteries except solar ones. Such solar reflex sights rely on the solar panels and low-consumption light-emitting diodes to display the red dot of decent brightness practically in any weather and lighting conditions. This is achieved by using a backup storage that holds a reserve of power to continue powering up the sight at the selected brightness even when it’s cloudy or at night time. And the reserve is replenished from solar panels when the light is abundant.
Due to the lack of replaceable batteries, optic sights with solar panels are very practical requiring almost zero maintenance.
